Embroidery Exhibition 2009
Thursday 21st - Wednesday 27th May
'Let the needles do the Talking' - Public Exhibition of the Pam Pavitt Embroideries.
There is an exhibition of 38 beautiful embroideries sewn by Mrs Pamela Pavitt, a URC minister's wife, between the 21st and 27th May.
The Embroideries are presented in two groups, 'Peace and Reconciliation' and 'Stewardship of the Earth'. There are nineteen frames overall holding forty-five separate designs in full colour. They range in size from a foot square (300 x 300) up to over two feet square (600 x 600). There are brief titles to each frame, but visitors are encouraged to make their own interpretations and 'Let the needles do the talking'. This is an impression exhibition and a 'must' for anyone interested the expression of ideas through the art of embroidery. Pamela is a member of the Embroiderers' Guild and the South London Textile Workshop, which experiments with tapestry weaving and other techniques.
Times: 10.00 am - 4.00 pm, Sunday 2.00pm- 5.00pm.
Light refreshments available. Entry Free. Donations requested to Embroidery Charities.
Sunday morning's worship will be based around the embroideries' themes of Creation and the Environment, and Peace and Reconciliation and we warmly invite you to join us for that too.
We are inviting people into our Church over Bank holiday in May to view these wonderful embroideries, and we hope you will all bring your friends or your clubs to see them and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and a slice of cake.
